Parish Clergy
Father Basil is a native of Romania, where he completed his theological education. He continued his theological studies at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and is a doctoral candidate at South University (ABD). He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on November 10, 1991, and served in the Romanian Orthodox of America (OCA) until 2009, when he was received in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Father and Presbytera Gabriela have one daughter, Ana Maria.
Father Basil completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education, of which one-year residency at Cleveland Clinic and one unit of Supervisor in Training. He worked as a chaplain in the hospital setting as well as in Higher Education.
He received two high ecclesiastical distinctions, Economos in 2005 and Protopresbyter in 2007, granted by the Synod of Orthodox Church in America. He founded a church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has a passion for church growth and biblical education.
Sub-Deacon George Howington has been serving at Holy Cross for many years.
As of January 15, 2016 Fr. Andrew Barakos, the southwestern regional Vicar of the Metropolis of San Francisco, has been overseeing the parish administration.
